With the IStructE's chartered membership exam being one of the most difficult structural exams in the world, it can feel overwhelming. Every little bit of knowledge helps, and so we are please to provide a chartered exam preparation guide to help pave your path towards passing the exam.
The exam preparation pack contains:
- An exam guide totalling nearly 100 pages of in-depth information and curated content, including an overview of each part of a question, various optioneering solutions, basic load derivation, appropriate foundation selection, basement excavation strategies, and much more.
- A detailed checklist (provided as a separate PDF) to walk you through each part of the exam, help you create a timetable for the day, and includes Section 2(c) calculation examples for a multitude of different steel and reinforced concrete elements.
The exam guide caters to the latest format of the IStructE chartered membership exam since it was slightly updated in January 2024.
The current examination pack is largely centered around building questions. Whilst it can be used for Q3 (bridge design), it does not include specific advice for that question. Furthermore, it currently does not include detailed information on timber design, although we hope this can be added in the future.

Our chartered examination preparation pack is currently on sale for £85 which we feel represents a fair value given the level of time and effort spent in producing the pack, and a fair price in comparison to the cost of sitting the exam (currently about £500 as of 2026).
